Redefining ‘a good life’

I used to think that living a good life meant achieving great things – climbing the career ladder, building a successful business, and having all the right experiences. But as I slow down and become more present in my daily life, I’ve realised that a good life isn’t something to build, it’s something to be noticed.

For me, a good life has become less about doing and more about being. It’s in the small moments: the comfort of a cup of tea, the warmth of the sun on my skin, the quiet stillness of the evening. It’s in the simple act of being fully present in whatever I’m doing – whether it’s working, connecting with others, or even resting. A good life isn’t a series of big achievements – it’s a collection of moments where we show up and feel alive.

Slowing down has given me a new lens to see my life through. Instead of rushing through it, I’m learning to savour it. And in that savouring, I find that life feels richer, fuller, and more meaningful.

Maybe a good life isn’t something we work towards. Maybe it’s something we notice and embrace.

Reflective prompt: What’s one small, ordinary moment that made you feel alive today? How can you become more present in your life and notice the beauty in the little things?
