The courage to do less

We’ve been conditioned to believe that doing more equals safety, success, and value. From our careers to our personal lives, there’s this constant pressure to achieve more, be more, and do more.

But what if the real courage lies in doing less—while being fully present? When we slow down, we create space for what truly matters. And in that space, there’s trust. Trust that what is most important will get done, even if it’s not in the way we imagined.

When I started allowing myself to do less, something unexpected happened: I felt more connected to the world around me. I noticed details I’d missed when I was rushing. I felt calmer, more centered, and more at ease with myself. Doing less doesn’t mean being lazy—it means being intentional. It means choosing quality over quantity, and allowing yourself the freedom to pause, breathe, and just be.

What would it feel like to give yourself permission to do less? To trust that slowing down is not a sign of weakness, but a practice in strength and presence?

Reflective journal prompt: Where in your life are you holding on to “more” when “less” might feel more true? How can you create space for yourself by doing less this week?
